BIOGRAPHY OF LATE MADAM IQUO BASSEY OKON 1935_2015(80 YEARS.) PREAMBLE: The call of death is a call of love. Death can be sweet if we answer it in the affirmative, if we accept it as one of the great eternal forms of life and transformation. To the well organized mind, death is but the next great advice true. The truest end of life is to know that life never ends. Death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity. 15:54_57. BIRTH AND PARENTAGE: Late madam Iquo Bassey okon was born precisely on 20th July, 1935 into the Royal Family of late chief Akpan Udoh Udoh of Nung Eniang Udo Abia in Ikot Andem Itam and late Madam Eyowan Udo Udo of Uwah Abasi Ekot of Nung Akpa Udoh Family in Obong Itam both in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. EDUCATION: In her time, education was not necessarily been a priority for a female child because of the cultural beliefs and gender discrimination. Nevertheless Mma Iquo as fondly called by relations and friends was born genius. With this extraordinary mental prowess and inspiration, she was able to communicate, sing hymns and quote the scriptures accurately. CHRISTIAN LIFE: Late Madam Iquo Bassey okon was born into a very strong Christian family; she was raised in Presbyterian Church Ikot Andem Itam. She later joined her husband in Apostolic Church where she got baptized. She was a devoted member of the church. She responded to all the the church activities both spiritually and financially. A member who cannot feel free if she fails to participate in any church activity nor to miss her days of worship. She remained faithful to her God and the Church even to her last days. OCCUPATION: Late Madam Iquo Bassey Okon was a dedicated business woman who pursued her business with high level of commitment and sincerity of purpose. She started her trade in Equatorial Guinea (Frandapo) with the sales of bulk food items. On her returned to Nigeria, she continued the same business in Urua Mbakara in Ikot Ekpene. A business empire she controlled for years. SOCIAL LIFE: Mma Iquo as she was fondly called by her relations and friends, was jovial, amiable, accommodating and sociable. Despite her serious engagement in business, family and Christian life. She was outstanding sociable. She was kind hearted, generous and very simply in manners. She treated all people with customary behavior. She was always threading the path of peace and truth. Mma Iquo was a good, gentle and caring mother. MARITAL LIFE: Late Madam Iquo Bassey Okon was betrothed to late Bassey Okon of Nung Ibok in Ikot Andem Itam for marriage at a very tender age. Her marriage was blessed with Nine Children, six males and three female of which seven are here to mourn her demise. HER TRANSITION: Mma Iquo took ill and her state of health deteriorate thereafter that necessitated her being taken to series of health facilities. She was given proper medical attention; received love and care from her Children and family members. On that fateful day of 29th September, 2015 at about 2:10am God’s finger touched her and she slept. She is survived by seven children, a sister, 25grand children, Four Great Grand Children and many other relations. TRIBUTE TO MY MOTHER I remember everything about you, your voice, smile, the way you walked, talked, looked at me meant so much. I remember all the words you said to me some funny, some kind an some wise. I remember every moment we share seems like only yesterday or maybe it was eons ago.It’s really hard to say you are gone from me now because your memory resides inside my heart and light up my darkest days. If tears could build a stairway, and memories was a lane. I would walk right up to heaven to bring you home again. No farewell words were spoken no time to say time to say goodbye, you were gone before I knew it and only God knows why. Generous, kind, loving, sweet, caring, honest, elegant, fastidious, brave, strung, bubbly, energetic, resilient, thoughtful, hopeful selfless mother you possessed all these qualities. Thank you for making a beautiful home in every way, thank you for giving me a sense of style and taste and appreciation for beauty and for good food. Thank you for pushing me to go to college even though you never had the chance. Mum you were our rock, our anchor and our true North is rather breath easy finally. Mother, you were the truest, dearest woman ever exist here on earth. I called you friend, sister and also dad when God, so much beauty, grace, love an patience you possessed, you touched my heart in so many ways, your strength and smile even on dark days made me realize I have angel beside me. I will forever salute your mother, cause you had been all I ever needed in my life. God gave me the best Mum in the world. TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED GRAND MOTHER Grand ma, it was difficult and painful to believe that you are no more in this world but now I try to believe because the Bible made us to understand that there is a time for everything, a time to be born and a time to die. You were a mother to the motherless, food to the poor and shelter to the homeless. You made me believe in being one another’s keeper. Missing you is unbearable my beloved grand-Mma, always felling incomplete as if the world has come to an end. My grandmother was a retite woman, but there is nothing small about her legacy or the impact she had on other. TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED MOTHER I wish death was just like traveling, that you will come back but it is not so. Mama, I am surprised that whatYou were planning to do for me, you have not yet done it. When will you do it? Who will I call when situation arises that I need someone to go with me? You were always asking me if you will recover and I will say yes and then you will be confirm that it is going to be very soon.
